Zone Definitions Updated Livable Planet

A new definition of the habitable zone around the planet, which shows where liquid water can exist, shifting earth to the edge of the habitable zone in our solar system.
Livable Planet Zone Definitions Updated |-One of the most important characteristics of an alien planet is a planet if it is entered into the habitable zone or commonly called |
Goldilocks zone, where the planet was not too far and not too close to its parent star, allowing the planet to sustain life where there is water in liquid form.

Now scientists have redefined the boundaries of the habitable zone for alien planets, potentially issuing multiple entry exoplanaets estimated as habitable planet and allows some planets that do not qualify for re-entry into the list.

"This will have a significant impact on the number of exoplanets that are in a habitable zone," said research team leader Ravi Kumar Kopparapu of Penn State University.

The habitable zone defines the region where planets may support liquid water on the planet permukaannya.Jika closer to its star, the water will evaporate, if the planet is farther from its star so that water will membeku.Jadi like liquid water on earth is requirement for life.

New definition of the habitable zone is based on a database called atmospheric updated HITRAN (high-resolution transmission molecular absorption / high-resolution transmission molecular absorption) and HITEMP (high-temperature absorption spectroscopic parameters / parameter high temperature absorption spectroscopy)

that provide water and carbon dioxide absorption parameters - two properties that greatly affect the atmosphere of exoplanets, to determine whether the planet where liquid water could be.

Scientists warn that the definition of the habitable zone still does not take into account the feedback effects of clouds, which will also affect the habitability of the planet.

Previous definition of the habitable zone originated about 20 years ago that created by researchers James Kasting of Penn State, which is also part of the team that performed the update.

The new definition does not differ radically from that lama.Sebagai example, in our solar system, the boundaries of the habitable zone has shifted from 0.95 astronomical units (AU, or the distance between the Earth and the sun) to 1.67 AU, to range new 0.99 AU to 1.7 AU.

"It's a surprise that the Earth is very close to the inside edge of the habitable zone," says Abel M?ndez astronomer from the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, which is not part of the renewal team.

M?ndez manage the list, which is called the habitable exoplanet catalog, of all the known planets outside our solar system that can be inhabited by new kehidupan.Studi will require some new adjustments to the catalog, he said.

"Now as I see it as a significant change," said M?ndez. "Many of the planets which we believe is now uninhabitable outside daftar.Tapi on the other hand, extending the outer edge of the habitable zone, making it a more distant planet might be entered in the habitable zone now".

He mentioned in particular one planet, Gliese 581d, is considered located at the outer edge of the habitable zone-nya.Dengan new definition, the planet was almost in the middle of the zone, so that the planet may be better candidates for extraterrestrial life.

"It's going to be a big change for a particular planet," said M?ndez. "That probably means the prospect of life on this planet would be much better".
